week 13 & 14: music & video production

Video production:
Yes,yes the movie is finished and the pre-showing of our student films were very good! I've liked the development that everybody made trough druing this semester. If we just compare to our first and second movies we can see a huge difference between them! My movie came out pretty good (again), they might expected something different but I think that they liked my new movie too! The audio problems were solved and the music (that I was really worried about) came out perfect!
The movie showings at the theatre hall (official premiere :) was one of the biggest moments of my life yet. I've could never show my movies to this many people at the same time and wait for their reaction os one of the best adrenalin boosts! The movie had very good feedback at the premiere however it is still just a student movie, we have tried to do our bests!
Katalin did a great job and my brother did his acting supriseingly good!

Music:
The music class is over! Overall I think I've learned a lot! It might seemed that it's about pain and boreness for the entire semester but if I look back I'm glad that I've took this class! I would never check out these male opera singers (which were very awesome) and get this much background information about the classical music! I've really enjoyed that we were studying almost all genres of music (including film music)! The discussion about the music for our student films were probably the best class in the entire semester it was too bad that noone else brang their movie to class just me...
I recommend this class to all Arts Managers because we all knwo that 'a day without music is a lost day"

week 12: music & video production

Video production:
Finally the shooting is done! It was harder than I thought! The outside scenes at the lake were the hardest to shoot! The weather guy promised us sunshine which is perfect fort these scenes, unfortunately we got some forecast and rain! Furthermore the dark comes very soon this time of the season so we had to do these scenes very quickly!
Otherwise the shooting came out pretty good! We have more than 200 shots so it will be a big job to select the perfect scenes and cut them together. I've also experiencing troubles with the music for my movie... I cannot decide what to use etc...
The movie due next week and I've 5 days to finish it! YEah!

Music:
I've decided to cut the video instead of staying at the music class for the entire time.. Sorry!

week 11: music & video production

Video production:
Some major complications appeared during the shooting of some scenes! The entire work is a big mess... I've to develop a new schedule... The actors are very busy and the wheater is really rainy so the lake scenes will be re-scheduled to shoot next weekend! Until than I will begin to cut together the movie...

Today we were watching some video clips and performances from some rock and funky legends such as: Michael Jackson, Prince
I love Jacko, I've liked the class pretty much!

week 10: music & video production

Video production:
The shooting have begun! The actors are in the movie are my friends and the main lead is my brother! I'm a little bit scared about his acting since this will be his very first acting performance but I have to put some trust in him! The two other charachters are the dead wife and the extraordinary girl! Both girls are my good friends and since their job is not that complicated I think they will be fine! We have a very strong schedule for the shooting since we have to go to the lake to shoot the lake scenes and I only want to spend one they at the lake! The rest of the shooting will take place in Budapest!
I've already started to shoot some scenes about which work should go to the second unit :) Hope we will make it in time!
During the class Dr Phil was showing us some charachter introduction tequniques wich were very useful for me and I'm sure that I will use some of these in my project!

Today's class was cancelled! Unfortunately!

week 9: music & video production

Video production:
I am very glad that I teamed up with Katalin! She is a very nice girl and she also takes this film seriously! Not like Barbara Szabó who didn't even shows up in school anymore... Too bad for her! The idea for this next movie is finally developed! Synopsis: A wealthy gus in his mid 30s loses his wife and he decides to commit suicide under complicated circumstances! Short outline: A wealthy guy in his mid 30s loses his wife and he decides no to live anymore! After one year of struggling and pain he decides to ask a scientist to create him a serum which will kill him in approximately 60 days after that he have taken it! He moves to their lake house to spend the last 2 months of his life there, but he mets with an extraordinary womaen and he falls in love... however the serum is already inside of him...
Katalin and some other friends are responded well to this short story! I've decided to use narration to tell the story since we are short on audio recording equipment!
The shooting begins next week!

Music:
Today we were showing some tracks to our teacher and discussed them! I've picked Gabriella Climi's Sanctuary which is an enjoyable popp-jazz tune. The class didn't like it that much and the teacher also gave me some bad comments about my choice. I don't care, I think it's still a great song... In the rest of the class period we were watching some video clips and performances from some rock legends such as: Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Jamiroquai

Video Production:

After we have showed to our teacher and to our class our videos it was really good to receive such a good feedback! Our next project for the following weeks is to create a 10 minute long video including dialogues!
This project will not have a story board since we do not have enough time to do it, but the script and the outline is mandatory!
My groupmates are Barbara Szabó the star of my first movie and Katalin Bíró!
I've already have some ideas! I'm really looking forward to this next project also!

Music:
Since we have discussed the previous opera the following weeks are going to be in class! This time we were focusing on the opera singers and male opera singers! We have listened to many famous operas and learned about some very famous italian male opera singers!

week 7: music & video production

Video Production:

Finally, my first movie for my school had it's premiere today. The audience responded really well, and I think I have reached what I want and I pushed out everything from this project.
The editing part of the work was not as easy as I have expected, but it stayed in the "fun-to-do" category. My film called "Analog Effekt" cannot be measured with the other shows which were done by my classmates. It is just because my film is very far from those ideas and realizations which were done by the others.

I have liked their movies very much. I think many of those guys have something to do with filmmaking. I have enjoyed the viewings and I think I have a very good competition.
The movie (Analog Effekt) is now avaliable to watch it on youtube in High Definition!

Video Production:

Our first short movie due next Monday! Thankfully I am fdone with all te shooting and my co-producer is abroad. I have the time and the equanimity to finish this project. Until this time, the storyboard had a fake title called "The Red Team" but I can tell the original title which is "Analog Effekt". As I see the shoots are pretty much okay, I can use them to create something which will looke like a movie. Wellm I goota go to edit :)

Like I have said in my previous post, we were going to watch the "The Bluebeard Prince's Castle" which is a hungarian classic opera. The modernization of the original play was a bad idea. I did not like it at all. Poor acting and very bad singing typifyed the work of the actors. Not to mention the "unique and brand new, project a video-to-mirrors" technique which was the directors idea. I hated it. I did not came out well at all. The stage was penurious and felt really empty. I am sorry to say this but the creators of this re-make ruined the entire thing.

Video Production:

This week is the shooting week for my first movie at the video productions class. I'm really looking forward. I do not want to say anything about the movie yet, since I do not want to ruin the expreience. Of course there are some stuff that I can tell you: The movie will trying to be as original as possible. I will get out everything which is possible to get out from this project. The "filmmaking" groups count only 2 person per group and we are using very low quality cameras. But I believe that the talent can show without the professional equipment or so.

Music:
Wow, next week we are going to the opera house to see "The Bluebirds Prince's Catle" which is a Hungarian classic opera written by Béla Bartók. It will be performed in 21th century stlye... looking forward to see it!

week 4: music & video production

Video Production
Our storyboard for our first "official" movie is due next monday.... however my co-producer (Barbi Szabó) has some schedule conflicts shooting the movie next week, so we decided to shoot the movie on this Friday. We will finish the script until Thursday... It may seems that this will be rushed together, but the entire idea is in my brain about the movie. Technical difficulties are at the minimum. I'm using video editing sofwares since 2003,so at least we don't have to begin from Adam and Eve.
Looking foward to the prouction of this movie. I think the idea is unique but still easy enough to do the job.

week 3: music & video production

Video Production:

This weeks video production class was just about to drop us into the deep water of filmmaking hints, unofficial "Hollywood" slang and of course we got a serious description about using the camera lens! Basically this knowledge that we learn here, is indispensable to know if we want to be some successfull art managers. Not to mention those students whose future idea is about to get a job in the filming idustry.
Watching the videos of the students who took the class last year, was a very good mirror to us. Our first video is due in a couple weeks and it is neccesary to get a feeling about the quality that we have to reach.

week 2: music & video production

Video Production:

Today we shot a movie with a pre-written storyboard! The title was "Wating for love" and we had around 15 shots. Due to my previously gained experiments in "movie making" it was quite a fun work to do, however we did have some problems that we had to solve very quicly! We had only 90 mintues to shot the movie and some rules were made for the shooting: we had to edit the movie while we were shooting it, we were not able to delete the scenes from the camcorders hard drive, so if we made a mistake that was part of the movie!
Overall, it was a good way to prepare for our first assignement wich will be a 4 minute silent movie!

Music:
3 hours of music class on a Firday morning can be very disappointing, unless you have a teacher who can make this interesting. Basically the main ideai if this class (as I see) to get a basic knowledge as an art manager about the history of modern and classical music. Whithout this skill, an art manger cannot be reliable in the field!
